Counselling for Perinatal and Peri/Menopause Mental Health

in Burnaby and across BC virtually

The journey isn’t always easy. But you don’t have to do it alone.

Whether you’re pregnant and riding a wave of mixed emotions, feeling overwhelmed and uncertain as a new parent, or navigating the changes of peri/menopause - this space is for you.

Hi, I'm Robyn - a Registered Clinical Counsellor, specializing in perinatal and peri/menopause mental health. I've been a counsellor for 10 years, but I found my passion for this work through my own experience of becoming a mom. Navigating postpartum while feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and lost showed me how much support new parents really need. And when parents started reaching out to me for counselling because they sensed I would "get it", I knew this was the work I was meant to do. I'm now certified in both Perinatal Mental Health and Menopause Mental Health, supporting people through these major life transitions.

I create a space where you can feel heard without judgment. I meet you where you're at and get to know what you actually need right now. All parts of you are welcome - the messy, complicated feelings included. I believe in genuine human connection and the healing that happens when you feel truly seen. If this resonates, I'd love to connect.

You might be here because you are pregnant, and while feeling excited, also feeling worried about the uncertainty of what is to come. Maybe you are a new parent, living in a brain fog of feedings, diaper changes, and sleepless nights, and taking a shower feels like a win these days. Or possibly wondering if you have entered perimenopause, trying to make sense of the new symptoms you are experiencing, and why you don’t feel like yourself.

These times of transition can be hard, confusing at times, and maybe nothing like you’ve ever experienced before. You might even be wondering “Who am I?” as you try to navigate your way through this wild time. And all the while feeling pressure to get it right, as if you should know what to do, and then feeling shame for struggling. It’s not hard because you’re bad at this. Or because you haven’t read the right books or listened to the right podcasts. You’ve probably spent a lot of time googling for answers - yup, me too.

You’re looking for support. Compassionate, genuine, support that honours who you are and where you are at in your journey. You want to talk with someone who gets it. Someone with lived experience who can actually empathize with what you’re feeling. Because when we feel heard and understood, and that our feelings are valid, we can begin to understand ourselves and our emotions better. We can transform our relationships with ourselves and others. We can learn to ride those waves of intense and difficult emotions.

I’m a counsellor that meets people as humans first. That means getting to know who you are and providing a space where all parts of you are welcome. I believe that building a trusting counselling relationship starts with me also showing up as my genuine self: honest, caring, and down to earth.

I work with people across the perinatal and peri/menopause stages, supporting those dealing with anxiety, depression, shame, trauma, grief, relationship struggles, and changes in identity. My work is grounded in a client-centered approach and draws on mindfulness, self-compassion, somatic work, and curiosity about our emotions and inner parts. I’ve seen how, through this process, people can start to feel less overwhelmed, find more joy, build stronger connections, and grow a deeper sense of compassion for themselves.

  • Pregnancy can be a time of such a mix of emotions — exciting and full of joy at times, but also uncertain, overwhelming, even lonely. This is a season of big change and transition, and it’s okay if it feels hard. Together, we can talk about what’s been difficult, start to make sense of it, and figure out what you need during this time.

  • The transition to becoming a parent is big…and that you somehow have to figure out while in a sleep deprived fog. It can be a wild time, of emotional highs and lows. And support can really help. We’ll explore what you need right now and find tools that can help you feel more supported and grounded through it all.

  • Parenting doesn’t come with a roadmap (but gosh wouldn’t it be nice if it did!). It's normal to feel uncertain, stretched thin, or disconnected at times. In counselling, we can make space for your experience — the challenges, the emotions, and the moments that need to be seen.

  • The transition into peri/menopause can really shake things up — your body feels different, your emotions might be all over the place, and it’s a lot to take in. We can work together to sort through it all, figure out what you need, and help you find your footing again.
